FATE WHY DO YOU MOCK ME
Another round of machine failures at work this morning. After all the rebooting, head-scratching, reconfiguring and generally kicking computers back into a working state, we were relieved to find that nothing was permanently damaged and everyone could carry on as normal. So we went for a coffee break.

... the one permanent failure is the coffee machine. It is flashing all its lights in a "NO COFFEE FOR YOU" pattern. :(

Something like that - we came back to find that half the office computers had rebooted, but crucially one of the machine room air conditioning units didn't start up and temperature went up to 36 degrees in there.

Power-cycling the coffee machine results in a horrible crunching noise halfway through its normal boot sequence then it stops!

Ouch!

I got a txt from redstone earlier saying that they had experienced some power issues overnight, but all our machines seem to have survived - even those not on UPS.

Am I bad that this made me laugh enough to read it out in the office?

He could always come over to our office and have DELICIOUS BEAN TO CUP COFFEE. But our machine is all Enterprisey like our software, so he might not on principle ;)
